Corporate responsibility in supply chains
We help companies to understand issues and risk within their supply chain, from country labour risk tools to consultations with key NGOs. Key areas which we often support include:- The provision of staff training on ethical issues.
- Providing guidance to suppliers - helping them to understand how to respond to the demands of their buyers. Our training has included writing a supplier training package for the project management company that was constructing a major manufacturing site in Tianjin in China for one of our clients.
- Work on specific supply chain project e.g. sourcing fair trade flowers for a major supplier to a UK supermarket.
- How best to measure the performance of suppliers against your standards.
- We also help clients to look beyond traditional auditing to consider projects that help build the capacity of both their own trading teams and suppliers to trade ethically.
A current issue that many clients are looking into is carbon reporting within the supply chain. We are also looking at carbon and water foot-printing for the paper supply chain of the publishing sector through our publishers' clubs (PREPS).
Neil Everett is the lead consultant on supply chain issues and is happy to discuss any other corporate responsibility aspects.
